PLACE was contracted by the Marymoor Velodrome Association to design new community facilities for the existing Velodrome at Marymoor Park. Close work with King County, neighbors, other park users and the cyclists themselves created consensus and a shared vision. Sensitive design, focused on the rural vernacular of historic Redmond, makes the facility fit into the fabric of the park while reaching out to the larger urban context. Featuring workshops and locker rooms, meeting spaces and grandstands, the resulting facilities bring new life to the Velodrome and provide another great opportunity for community interaction in the Park.
