PLACE programmed this 6500 sf buildout of raw, high-ceilinged warehouse space to house Seattle's The Barking Lounge--an innovative approach to the facilitation of dog culture. So much more than your average kennel and groomer, the Barking Lounge serves as a community place where people and dogs can interact and enjoy each others' company in an urban environment that supports both. Housing dog runs; a coffee and relaxation lounge; retail, office, kennel, and grooming spaces; the design revolves around "Central Park," a central area where the "kids" can play off-leash while adults hang out and enjoy a hot coffee and conversation with friends.
