PLACE has just finished construction on the first of two new 4 star Built Green single family residences for YS Development in Kirkland. The design for these houses utilizes SIP roofs, stacked framing, pervious driveway surfaces, and green roofs. Rain catchment systems are also employed for irrigation purposes. To increase density and affordability options in this upscale neighborhood, we have designed accessory dwelling units above detached garages that can be rented to tenants, or used as a home office space. Due to the sustainable strategies employed, the Duo has been identified as a pilot project for the City of Kirkland's Built Green program.
