The charge: take a faded apartment complex and turn it into appealing market housing for a sophisticated international community of technology and creative professionals. Set in beautiful natural surroundings with impressive mountain views, we looked to varied examples from Park City to Geneva to create the feel of a lively ski village. Each of the eight buildings has been designed to look slightly different from the others, to engender the feel of an organic, varied community while sharing elements of a broader consistent, rich palette. Warm earth tones and textured, durable materials including stone, metal, and cedar siding support this idea. By modulating the building facades; re-insulating; installing generous, energy efficient windows and completely redesigning the landscaping and site-wide lighting; we were able to bring these buildings up to code and make significant aesthetic and wayfinding improvements without a lot of fuss. Inside, the look and feel of the buildings is completely transformed with three distinct interior schemes that each provide stylish, efficient spaces for a diverse clientele with high expectations.
